This year seems to have slipped by so quickly. Enjoy the start of the holiday season with a wonderful Thanksgiving next week!

November Elections Results
Thanks to residents who got out to vote on November 7. As you might know by now, Robert Tietze will take over as Mayor in January, and Carrol Thomas, Erica Hartley and I were elected to serve on City Council. In addition, two residents, Ramsey Mohsen and Leslie Carto, were elected to the Council as write-in candidates. Congratulations to all.
 
Mission Woods Terrace Safety
At our City Council meeting earlier this week, traffic engineer Lee Baer presented the Council with a number of recommendations, including reflectors, lighting and more visible turn arrows, to help make it more obvious to drivers that Rainbow Boulevard does not continue into Mission Woods. We'll take those ideas and others to a meeting with our public works department to decide what improvements make sense to proceed with and where we might need Kansas Department of Transportation involvement and / or approval. Our goal is to make any simple fixes we can now, knowing that any major changes might need to be rolled into the Rainbow Boulevard project.

Rainbow Boulevard Complete Streets Traffic Plan
Speaking of the Rainbow Boulevard project, residents are encouraged to  complete the second opinion survey, which will be open until November 30. The survey seeks to understand how you use Rainbow Boulevard and what improvements you would like to see. It is an important part of informing what changes might be implemented along the Rainbow corridor from Shawnee Mission Parkway to I-35.

Remaining Leaf Pickup Dates
A reminder that we've contracted with Heinen Landscaping to do leaf pickup again this year. Crews will be out this weekend (November 17 - 20) and will do one more round on December 8 - 11.
